A bumper sticker read:"I love God! It's His fan club I can't stand!" Don't you think they're missing the point?

How can anyone claim to love God, who he hasn’t seen, and hate his fellow man who he has seen?

1 John 4:20

  • I’m a Christian and I have the same bumper sticker.

It isn’t about hate, it’s about strongly disagreeing with the mainstream. You’ll also notice that the word “hate” was your addition, and doesn’t appear on the bumper sticker itself.

  • Then, there’s the other point about defiling your auto with bumper stickers. Why be a rolling sign?

The point of the sticker is probably aimed at hypocritical Paulianists with a misanthropic Bible Belt-styled belief system.

Footprints, was that you with me in that park in Ocean Springs, Mississippi on a moonlit summer night in 1995?

  • Gandhi said, “I like your Christ; I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ”!!!!!!!

Time to understand it is not about belief, God or Jesus but about the intolerance, hatred and persecution from those terribly BAD christian attitudes and conduct!!

As soon as Christians rediscover the loving god and start acting like it the problem will cease!!!!

Of course until then christianity will increasingly get called the “Nasty Religion”!!

  • I think you (the Christian person posting the serious question about a silly bumper sticker) are the one who is missing the point, which is funny because it just reinforces the joke.

  • Nope, I think they sum up the point brilliantly. it’s a simplification of Ghandi’s famous quote.

“I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ. “

If Jesus were around today (I believe he existed- I don’t belive that he was a divine superbeing) then he would be asheamed of what his worshippers have done.

  • Great sticker!

If God does exist & is as nice as what his/her followers claim, he/she must be spewing to see how his/her name is being misused 24/7 by church leaders, religious leaders & fanatical followers to do hateful things.

  • It’s not hating ‘his fellow man’, it’s disagreeing with the way most Christians behave and conduct themselves.

  • Yes, because Jesus said men will know we are God’s children by the love we show each other ( John 13:34-35 ). This bumper sticker is a product of Satan.

  • I think this is a valid point. It’s the church in all it’s forms that it is objecting to. That means for example homophobic and sexist bishops in the Anglican church and ultra right wing fundamentalists in the so called ‘Bible Belt’ of the USA.

  • Its a Theist message against how the organized religions control people
