My girlfriend (age 25) thinks it´s no longer appropriate for her to wear hoodies. In her view, hoodies are just for high school girls and not for adult women. I don´t think she´s right, I know a lot of women, even older than 40 years that wear hoodies without any shame. I just want you, people, to tell me what do you think. Are hoodies just for high school girls or not? Thanks for all honest answers:-)

I’m 45 and I wear them from time to time. They’re so popular now that it’s hard to avoid them, and they are a good choice when it’s a little chilly out. She’s at the age where she might want to start shopping at new stores. Stay away from the teenager-y mall shops and Hollister stuff and go to Kohl’s or Forever 21. You can find cute solid hoodies without dumb sayings or brand names on them. Just keep it simple and choose tasteful colors and nicer fabrics.
It is really sad that your friend has already decided at the ripe old age of 25 that there are things that she is too old to wear. One day she will get cold at a football game (or concert or whatever) and someone will offer her one, and she will wish that she had not made so many limitations on herself. I am about double your friend’s age, I wear hoodies, two-piece bathing suits, and whatever else I feel like wearing. I am more bothered by people who wear clothes that do not fit or show more than I want to see, but it is a free country and we can wear what we want.
Anyone can wear hoodies. Hoodies were designed to be functional not a fashion statement. You wear a hoodie to cover your head and torso from the elements. You can be 10,0 years old and it is acceptable to wear a hoodie.
You would be wearing a hoodie one way or another. Rain, snow, etc. Ponchos have hoodies. But it’s personal preference. If she doesn’t want to wear a hood, so be it. She’ll use an umbrella those days.
There’s no age restriction on wearing hoods. Any age has hoods.
I wear a hoodie and those friends I go jog or walk on weekends morning, all wear a hoodie sweat shirt from the morning dew even drizzling than walking with an umbrella or worst a hat to get blown away by the wind. We are from 28 – 75 years of age *
I’m 51 and I have three or four hoodies. My daughter is my own personal “fashion police” and she lets me know if I look inappropriate, and she’s never commented on my hoodies.
I think, that if your girlfriend doesn’t think it’s appropriate for her, then it’s up to her whether to wear one.
Anyone can wear a hoodie, there is no age restriction.
