Make sure that you have a Back Up copy of every App you ever bought and paid for, with it’s unique Activation Code. And, back up all your Personal Data files, too, Docs, Pix, Videos, Music, Contacts and Favourites.
This includes your Windows Operating System’s Settings (and burned Windows Recovery DVDs, too), MS-Office, and Apps like Adobe Photoshop Elements, for example.
Once the Windows Recovery is completed successfully, you WILL have to re-install and Activate all your Paid Apps. Free Apps can simply be downloaded and re-installed, you do have all the App’s data files backed up, right?

If you have a dell laptop then look for a tag. There should be a service code. Go to dell.com and click on support. Look for an area where it asks for a service code. Enter the code and it will provide all the necessary drivers for your particular laptop.

Sorry it’s taken me so long to get back to your question.
I’m afraid that you won’t be able to back up your installed software either. The reason why not is because when they were initially installed, dozens and sometimes hundreds of entries were made into the system registry and unless you actually make a ‘ghost image’ of your hard drive you won’t be able to transfer them across to another hard disk drive, USB flash drive, or CD/DVD discs.
The types of data that you WILL be able to copy to copy elsewhere would include music files, picture files, video files, documents, etc.
