Can I install windows Home Premium on different computers, at the same time?

Ok so here is the deal. I bought windows home premium upgrade awhile ago for my main computer, I use the bit version. I have an asus eee pc with xp on it and I was wondering if I could use the same windows but instead of using the bit I would use the bit. Would it install legitimately? Or would it say that the key is already in use?

Update:

family guy,

when you say I “can’t”

you mean I shouldn’t or do you mean it will actually stop me if I try to do it?

  • Yes you can but only with the family pack. With the family pack, you can install it on up to computers. You can’t use the same product key on another computer if it’s not a family pack whether it’s bit or bit. Sorry if this is complicated but Microsoft’s licensing terms itself are complicated.

EDIT: When I say “you can’t use the same product key on another computer if it’s not a family pack”, yes they can and will stop you and the product key WILL NOT work on another computer if it’s not a family pack. I’ve tried it before with Windows XP and same is true with both.

  • The software companies that do the virus protection allow at least two or maybe three family members to use the one bought cover. I have Microsoft Office, but I haven’t looked to see if you can use another member of your family to install on a second computer. Well trial and error may work, who knows. If you try to key in the product key it won’t accept it a second time, I’m afraid. I would read the instructions in relation to what you want to do. Software companies are not stupid, and if they made it easy to do this, they would lose money in allowing it seems to me. Still I await whatever other answerers say in reply. givemestrength
