  • I dont agree that is harsh law.

If a person knows that if he do a crime then he will be stone to death according to the rule of society or country, and even that doesn’t stop him to do the crime .Then he is asking for it and i see no problem to give him what he is asking.

But have to check his situation before punishing,For example : a person stealing food due to hungry should be shown mercy etc….

  • You do realize that Jesus is God ~ don’t you?

You’re question implies that the Mosaic law was bad, and that Jesus’ teachings are good. I know that’s not the point of your question, but you’ve submitted a false premise, and it should not be allowed to stand.

If I understand your question correctly, you want to know what the proper Christian response is when you’re affected by evil. Christians are to obey the laws of the land, and to submit to the authorities that are over them. If the crimes you listed happened where I live, the proper thing to do would be to call the police, and to tell them everything you knew ~ including the name of the person who committed them. Then you rest in the promises of God. Vengeance is His. God will use the judicial system to punish the individual, but He also has other ways to make them pay for what they’ve done. As the Scriptures say, “It’s a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God…”

  • Keep in mind this was some 30 years ago. The laws were to moderate the barbarism that already existed. An eye for an eye, for example, prevented group A from slaughtering everyone in group B because of something that happened to one member of group A.

I don’t believe God intended for these laws to remain in place forever. I believe that when society outgrew the need for these laws, Jesus came, fulfilled the old covenant, and established a new one.

  • The Law was meant to make people understand how sinful they were and turn to the Saviour Jesus Christ and believe in Him alone for salvation. It wasn’t meant to be used in self-righteous condemnation like the Jews used it. If you’re a liar you deserve to die according to the Law. Everyone is condemned as a Hell-deserving sinner by the Law (Romans 3:23), so how could anyone of us judge another by it?

“He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” – John 8:7

“Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.” – Galatians 3:4

  • God is holy, righteous and perfect. I am not, thus I am in no position to judge God, who created me.

Proverbs 3:33-34 The LORD’s curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the dwelling of the righteous.

  • Yes at the time. But things changed when Jesus came to the earth. The mosaic law was to not be used.

  • Yes, it is barbaric to say “Thou shalt not commit murder” ! Now, since YOU believe that the Law of God is barbaric, go and break His Laws! (“What you must do, do quickly!” And the more you break His Law, the more you will prove you believe that God’s Law is barbaric, so you need to become a mass murderer! Why not just strap a bomb to your chest and go to Grand Central Station, while you’re at it? (Can we say “Hypo-cough-crite” ?)

  • Since God is not barbaric but sweet, gentle and kind how could He have given Moses bad laws? That tells you the scripture books have nothing to do with God. How could God inspire the religious scripture books and say negative things about Himself?

  • No, I do not agree.

Stoning may not appeal to you – it matters not. If you get hit in the head with a sufficiently large stone you loose consciousness and death is not felt.

It is a lot cheaper and easier for society to implement than what is done today. Do you know how much it costs to put a criminal to death in the US? Incredible! Get a rope, it can be used over and over again, find a tree and hang the bugger. It would save some tax dollars a plenty.

  • I as a Jew think the things Moses gave Israel were barbaric and inhumane. Good thing I don’t practice Judaism huh? Some of my fellow Jews like to pretend the Torah is the world’s greatest book. Whatever helps them sleep at night.
