How can I overcome my fear of public speaking?

I stutter, speak lowly, tremor, and forget what I’m saying when I speak publicly. I’m trying to break this and become a people person. How can I? I have heart palpitations when I have to speak to people :(.

  • Get help for your stuttering from The Stuttering Foundation. The web site explains several causes plus has free books, videos, and referrals to qualified therapists trained to help with stuttering.

  • Honestly, the only way to overcome public speaking is.. by doing it.

    You’ll probably fail the first 50 times, but you’ll slowly get more comfortable each time..

    and by the 100th time, you’re a pro.

    Some tips:

    Have flash cards to remind you what to say.

    Go over the speech in your head and imagine you’re giving one down to the last detail.

    Practice out loud.

    Speak at your own pace, nobody is rushing you (unless it is timed of course).

    Control the audience with your voice by speaking up.

    Just talk more with people on a day to day basis.

  • I know how you feel, Basically my suggestions would be Practicing inforont of your mirror several several times until you feel comfortable and then practice with a camera/ video camera it gives you a “specific eye point view” so you know how you look through that angle and how to better your facial movements to that specific angle so that when you get to that point you know your looking confident and well so your anxiety’s fall pray to that ever-increasing confidence of knowing, “Hey, i know what i look like from your point of view”… i mean if all else fails, Take a shot of your favorite spirit (liquor) and if youve had some previous experience with alcohol youl know you feel much looser and relaxed with your inner persona and words will come out with a smooth yet much more confident felling, Drugs are no good, not recommended they usually depress the frontal and pre frontal lobe which in case decreases your ability to access your thoughts quickly and invert them into your vocal courds, i mean if alcohol is no option practice practice practice and youl easily overcome anyone who drinks for benefit youl have acquired the skill naturally! which comes at a higher price but much more profit long term, if any questions Message me i am very responsive and would love a best answer after i have successfully answered all of your questions either via Personal message or on Yahoo
