How do I fix Blue screen in login screen – Windows 7?

I have an Asus N55S series and whenever I turn on my laptop, it come up with a blue screen after the ‘starting windows’ screen and then restarts. It does this over and over again. I’ve tried system repair and I’ve tried restoring to last session but still no avail. I’m only able to write this because luckily my laptop has a special ‘Asus Music Now’ which is very handy. Please, I really need help, I don’t want to have to restore to store settings as my laptop has a lot of important stuff.

  • Does the blue screen have an error code or error message?

If you are unable to start the computer in safe mode then it seems as if your registry is corrupt – which means that Windows will need to re-installed in order to build a new registry.

If you need to do this then make sure you DO NOT FORMAT the hard drive and in theory it will only change things in C:Windows.

Make sure you go out and buy an external hard drive first thing so that you can be assured in future that your data has been saved to another drive.

  • You need to use a Windows install disc.

Boot up from the Install disc, and then:

    1. You can try the repair utility on the disc and see if that works.

    2. If not, you’ll have to re-install Windows. Make sure not to erase anything so as not to lose your data. Before installing, it will prompt you, saying that “Old system and user files will be moved to a folder called Windows.old ” – make sure it says this!

Then, when you finish the installation, you’ll have a clean (factory reset) version of Windows. However, all of your files will be in-tact, in the Windows.old folder on the root of your drive.

(You’ll have to re-install your programs if you do this, too).

I know it sucks, but that’s a sure-fire way of fixing your problem.
