These apps are not compatible. They have been updated (Sadly, I have had the same problem).
Basically, Apple left the gen and gen in the dust. They have not been updated for a while, but the apps have.

I have the st generation iPod and it allows me to download things like Facebook but I downloaded it a while back! But now because they are bringing newer generations out thy change the software unallowing you to download games who update there app frequently!
I do not believe those apps are compatible with the I-Pod st gen. If they are then it might be that there is not enough memory space available on the I-Pod.
