my guinea pig sky is 8 months and she has an eye infection and the eye has dried out,
today, the vet said she will give us some cream that i just recently put on her eye,
on Wednesday, if this doesn’t work, she will give us an estimation on eye removal surgery,
has this happened to anyone,
how much will it cost,
and how will they do this procedure to my guinea pig??

our pets rely on us to look after them so up to a point the financial cost doesn’t matter. I would want to ask the vet what caused it and whether the other eye is likely to be a problem too. If the vet’s estimate is too much you can ask the opinion of another vet.
If it really is too expensive for you to use a private vet you might ask the PDSA.

This has not ever occurred to me but i’m very sorry! Is Sky in quite a lot of anguish? And your vet will almost always provide you with an estimate of the cost, however you would wish to determine with different vets to see in case your vet is over-charging you or whatever. Good success 🙂
I don’t know about the cost but please remember! guinea pigs don’t take surgeries well as they are only small 🙁 a surgery like this could be SO traumatic and think of the after care. stopping infection, stopping her from scratching it. stopping the pain too. just be aware of what effect it can have.
