If im french canadian am i french because…..?

If they’re desendants of France am I more french?
Like I think my great grandparentz came from France and had my grandma in Canada wouldnt she still be french? If not why?
So is French Canadian more French or more canadian?

  • Unless I am very much mistaken, I believe you would qualify, and quite nicely, as a member of the human race. Look, I am German, Irish, English, Dutch, Canadian, French, Spanish, Polish, and Hungarian. It is just SO much easier to say—I’m American. Just try it. Say—–I’m Canadian. There. Now, wasn’t that easy?

  • Why would she be French? She was born in Canada, she was a citizen of Canada. French-Canadian culture is a unique thing of its own. It’s no more ‘French’ than Anglophone Canadians are ‘British’

  • If you were born in Canada, you are Canadian.
    You could have had relatives that came from France sometime in the past. You could be of
    french descent because of it.
    Living in Quebec does not make anyone french. They are called Quebecers.They are still Canadian.
    There are many people in different provinces in Canada that speak a type of french. It is not the
    same as the french language spoken in France.

  • Most of the ancestors of French Canadians came over by the mid 16’s, and often before. In fact, they are less French then Americans are British! So, totally Canadian – in fact, they helped Canada become the country that it is.

    They even speak different forms of French. There is no way someone from France could follow someone speaking Montreal jouale!

    If your parents are both French and you actually live in France, you’re French. If you live in France since you were born you are French.
