If you could own any NASCAR race car that has ever been raced, which one would it be?

anyone that has EVER been race in the past in any NASCAR event.

Me watching Barrett Jackson (as I always do when its on) 2 weeks ago in Vegas and seeing a lot of the truck boys there prompted this question.

  • Richard Petty’s Super Bird. It’s a true icon of NASCAR history and it’s a Mopar with a hemi. Also the value of the car is over a quarter of a million dollars so I could still sell it & buy everybody else’s choice and still have money left over

  • Till I saw EdP’s answer I had in mind the Plymouth Superbird or the Dodge Charger both with the wings…

    Heck with it, IT STILL IS ONE OF THEM 2 CARS! I loved it when Richard Petty finally let the cat out of the bag with ‘He didn’t care where NASCAR mandated the wing angle, it was the two verticals that gave them the laterial stability that he wanted the most’ Those two verticals helped the rear stick like glue, the horizontal wing although nice was on there to add stability for the uprights at high speeds. WTG Richard, and others who were the winged warriors. Did anyone remember the Hollman-Moody Tarrino Tallidaga of the same era with the extended droop frontend? {Sorry for the misspelling}

    Source(s): I owned one of the Torinos. Never could spell it even then without looking. I grew up 6 miles from Harmony Ohio and the Jack Bowsher Ford Racing Team.

  • I have owned a couple of the same models used in NASCAR. One was the 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner, which is the same as a Superbird without the nose and wing. A guy down the street had the actual Superbird and they were considered kinda ugly back then. The other model I had was a 1971 Satellite Sebring Plus. These cars both made me a fan of Plymouth. But after I turned the 727 torque-flite transmission into a manual valve body, and took out the 2:72 gears and replaced them with 3:23 in the Dana housing, 8 dbl. pumper, on Edelbrock Torker, etc. I had a car that would beat a Ferrari on the highway. Sure it was fun modifying Chevys, but in the back of my mind I always wanted to get back into a MoPar. I don’t know if they used the 1970 Dodge Coronet, or the ’68 R/T, but I had those also.The ’70 Roadrunner was the fastest, but I could make the ’71 Satellite handle better. I won’t ever try to go back in time, because I was there doing it, and am thankful I had the opportunity. But back then I would choose Plymouth over Dodge, just to further distinguish my individual personality. It was worth it. From a consumer standpoint, just get the Roadrunner, or if you can find one, Satellite Sebring Plus. The Roadrunner was hemi-orange with Mickey Thompson tires and the Satellite was white w/black vinyl top and interior w/slapstick console. I don’t think there’s a car that could bring back to me, what that particular car gave. That’s the one I drove home from Colorado cruising at 115 m.p.h. all the way through Nebraska and into Des Moines, (in the middle of the night) I slowed down a little going north on Interstate 35, but that car would have ran the Cannonball Run

  • The Wood Brothers Racing original 1971 #21 Purolator Mercury

  • Bobby Allison’s #12 Miller High Life Buick

  • Richard Petty’s 1974 STP Dodge Charger.

  • Davey Allison’s #28 Havoline or the Mellow Yellow # 51 in Days of Thunder. Both would be nice

  • Any of Senior’s many #3 cars, Probably the one with the Coka – Cola Polar Bears. And of course the #1 car Junior raced also with the Polar Bears. It’s a 98 Black Monte Carlo.

    Source(s): I collect Coca – Cola things as well.

  • Since nobody’s said this and I would love to have: 1979 Cale Yarborough’s car and 1979 Donnie Allison’s 1979 car. Both used in the same event that NASCAR got so popular with. In my garage. Need to stop daydreaming.

  • Probably Richard Pettys 43 car.
