Installation disc 1 for imac stalling, not doing anything! Help?

I’m restarting my Mac. I put in the first installation disc and after the first 2 steps it gets to a screen where it says installing. But it doesn’t go anywhere from there. It has the twirly blue lines at the bottom, not the one that fills up! What do I do. Going from 10.6.3 back to the beginning and up again.

Update:

I stupidly put in the disc it came with. It says 1.0.3 . It’s from late 28. I should’ve put in the snow leapord 🙁 now I can’t even take it out! Fml! Help’

  • What version of OS X are you trying to roll back to?

And, why wouldn’t you just re-install OS X Snow Leopard (10.6.x)??? You must have purchased the Snow Leopard DVD(s).

There really is no need to go all the way back to the original OS X DVDS.

  • Most likely you have a bad disk. There could be a scratch on it or something else.

If it is an old computer it could be that the processor is not strong enough to have that OS or there could be not enough RAM for the OS.

Id try going to a mac store and have them create a new disk for you.

  • Paperclip… There’s a small gap in the entrance of the CD, this is used to manually eject the tray. Straighten the paperclip and insert it into the hole, follow sufficient pressure to the tray popping out after which you could pull it out the rest of the best way. Or, turn on the power to your IMac and press the eject button.
