  • Sure it’s OK but you won’t be able to get rid of it.

  • Sure it’s okay. If you found a lost, starving child, you’d feed it, wouldn’t you? Many people adopt stray cats who become their best friends for life. There is a difference between a stray or abandoned cat and a feral one. If this one is approaching you for food she’s more likely a stray than a feral cat (though not necessarily… ferals habituate to humans at times as well). And it’s perfectly okay to pet her, though if you have cats of your own in the house, particularly if they’re not vaccinated, you should be careful to wash your hands thoroughly (not just a quick rinse) after handling the stray, to avoid exposing your cats to any disease the stray may have.

To avoid having all the feral cats in the area on your doorstep, feed her at a certain time — start with the time you normally see her, and adjust it if needed. Give her a set amount, and take it up when she finishes or leaves, so there isn’t a 24-hour-a-day restaurant open for mice and raccoons and stray cats and everyone else.

  • You can feed it if you would like, but there are certain consequences. Here in PA, after 3 days of feeding the cat legally becomes yours. Plus, if you are in an urban area, chances are that cat is part of a feral community, and you will have lots of stray cats around if you give them a food source (i.e. feeding them)

  • PLEASE don’t take her to a shelter if she isn’t tame, they will just put her down Since she is feral. We have been feeding feral cats for over 2 years, There’s nothing wrong with that. If you look it up, or call around There’s normally places or vets that will fix/give shots for close to nothing. Also if There’s a TNR in your area, it stands for Trap Neuter Release. Its Made for feral cats that cant be tamed, and will charge $0-$25 in my area to get ferals fixed. If your going to feed her, which is GOOD so she wont starve, then you could also look for a local low cost pet vaccine clinic if you cant find anyone that will Give shots for free, These normally have all the shots needed for like $30. Theyre normally at a Walgreens or pet store on Saturdays. Just wait and see if you can’t afford shots and just want to feed her, wait a few weeks and if she isn’t sick, you can try petting her. We have A feral we can Pet, but she wont let us pick her up. She also comes in our house if we leave the door open, but.just for a few mins. If that happens with you dont close the door when she is inside or she could get scared. Also You could call around to vets and see if they give discounts if you bring in a feral that is sick.

I really hope you dont let her starve to death. To all those people who say dont feed her, theres nothing wrong with doing an act of kindness. We even named ours!!

Good luck to you and the cat!

  • If she looks sick and skinny, she’s not being looked after. If you’re prepared to take her on and as soon as she trusts you enough, put the poor little girl in a box for a trip to the vet to get checked for pests and illnesses and get her shots, then go for it. Also, if you think she HAS been someone’s pet and you can’t/don’t want to take her on but she’s an affectionate cat, consider getting her into an animal shelter as soon as possible. An affectionate cat has a good chance of being adopted. Regardless, you should get her into an animal shelter, if at all possible, if you don’t intend to take her.

  • Yeah, feed it. You should probably take it to an animal shelter soon, though.

  • sure but don’t feed them chicken bones or any small bones but other than that usually any left overs are ok

  • yes you can feed it if it looks skinny and sick, but if you don’t feed it it will die

  • feed it! just dont get too close to it or pet it. or let it inside.

  • give it to spca let them take care of it…..cuz she might want to get treated for vaccines and fleas
