My 17 month old keeps getting out of her crib.?

Is there anything i can do to stop her from doing this? Or should i just get her a toddler bed. My only concern is she shares a room with her 3 year old sister and i know they will be up playing and getting into trouble all hours of the day.

Update:

lol i think im screwed on this one.

  • I would just get a regular bed. Toddler beds don’t last long and don’t look very comfy. If she gets out of her crib there isn’t anything you can do about it now. Might as well get her the bed so that she doesn’t bust her head getting out of the crib.

  • If they’re sharing a room, they may already be getting up and playing after bedtime. A toddler bed may just make it safer. If you are really determined about this, you could get a crib tent, but your 3 year old might just unzip the thing anyway, making it a waste of money.

  • my 17 month old already sleeping in a big boy bed because when he was 14 months he was doing the same thing, and i didnt want him to end up falling and breaking something or ending up very hurt! he shares a room with his brother!(they are 17months apart) yeah they might get up playing and messing around but just go in there and put and stop to it! i will be hard, but it also might be easy for your children! put in all truth i would get her out of the crib! its not a safe idea to have her in there! good luck on everything!

  • If she is in there for a nap time, make her take a longer nap if she gets out of her crib as sort of a “punishment”. Tell her that only kids that stay in bed get to come out of nap time. (If she is old enough to understand it) If it is happenening at night I don’t know what to tell you. It would be pretty hard to stop her. Maybe a toddler bed is the answer as it is not as high of a fall if she takes a mis-step from a crib she could really hurt herself.

  • I think it is definitely time for a toddler bed for safety reasons, but in an attempt to avoid the playing at night, put them to bed at different times, and let your 3 year old know she isn’t allowed to disturb her sister once she is in bed.

I don’t have any suggestions for naps though, unless you just try the same thing, just wait for one to be asleep, then put the other to bed.

    Good luck

  • I think a toddler bed. My son climbed out of his crib at 11 months old. Thankfully we had just gotten home from being out of town and I had just washed blankets and such for him to fall on too. that was a scary day! You could tell the older one that she is resposible to make sure night time is for sleeping and give them rewards that encourage them to do just that.

    Good Luck!

  • You can’t stop her. Now that she knows how she will be out every chance she gets. It’s time to move to a toddler bed.

  • my daughters had to switch to a toddler bed around their first bday.. and and they are twins, so i know it can be done.. if she is climbing out the best thing is to take down the crib.. her safety is more important then them being up late.. it took me a few weeks of sitting in the room with them and then they got their routine down and didnt stay up playing

  • Duct tape? Just kidding.

Does she wake during the night and then get out?

I would try the toddler bed and simply be stern with both of them that night time is for sleeping. I have heard nightmares about parents who ignore their child climbing out and the child was injured.
