my cat gave birth and i have an important question?

so my 1 year old cat gave birth to 4 adorable kittens, theyre now 4 days old, we’re planning to give 3 of them to people we know at the age of 1 month, so we want to keep one with us ( aka with the mother) is it ok? or will she be jealous and she’ll stop socializing? because i really really reaaaally want to keep one.

  • I’m sure it will be fine. Just make sure you separate the kittens slowly so they get used to spending time without their mother, even the one you keep. They should all learn how to be on their own. But I don’t think you will have anything to worry about.

  • 1 month is not ok to be separating the kittens from the mother. Not at all. They need to be with their mother for at least 8 weeks. Talk with your vet about this. The kittens and mother should have already seen a vet. You need to learn how to properly care for kittens if you think that separating from their mother that early is a good thing. That is like taking a 10 year old away from their mother and telling them to go get a job and be an adult. It just isn’t going to happen. Literally all of those kittens will die if you give them away that young. It is not a good idea.

Talk with your vet about how to properly care for a kitten because you obviously don’t know.

Once those 8 weeks are up, the mother will walk away from the kittens and say ‘go away now’ and the kittens will be just like any other cat that they meet. She might be jealous of a new cat in the house, but that is all about her own individual personality so I can’t answer that.

  • You cannot give 1 month old kitten away..they will not even be weaned yet. They are not weaned until about 6-7 weeks. Best to keep them with their mom until about 8 weeks of age. If you take them away from the mother too early they will have problems. The mother cat should not mind if you keep one of the kittens. Please get the mother cat spayed once the kittens are weaned and I suggest you get the kitten neutered as well…ESPECIALLY if you keep a male..you would not want him getting his mother pregnant!

  • They need their mother until at the very least 6 weeks, ideally 8 weeks. You’re giving them away too young. The other should be ok with keeping one. But get mother and kitten spayed asap. Kitten needs to be 6 months old before you can spay it, but getting the mother spayed soon should help

  • Our cats were outside cats, and they’d a habit of disappearing someplace even as they gave start. they could come to the homestead with their empty distended bellies flapping round. After some days we may follow them (or they could convey them again to the barn). one 365 days, we heard a mewing from the closet. We got here across a clutter of kittens in a field of wintry climate gloves and hats! one way or the different the cat were given interior and we forgot to placed it out! besides, the dropping said by utilising the vet replaced right into a tell-tale signal that kittens were quickly to be born.

  • You need to keep the babys with their mom till they Are Atleast 6weeks. Dont keep another one if you cant afford to fix them both, one years old is really young to Be having kittens. Call around And you might be able to find a low cost spay neuter program.

  • 1 month is way too young to rehome kittens, Ideally they should be with mom 10-12 weeks as they are not weaned until 8 weeks and learn alot of important manners from mom and their siblings.

My kittens are 7.5 weeks old and still nursing and recently started eating hard kibble.

So please do not rehome them so young.

  • I don’t think the mom will get jealous. They seem to keep being maternal with younger cats, specially if it’s one that she’s been with since it was born.

  • I agree with Kate. Cats/animals have feelings but they’re not as emotionally smart as us, I guess you could say. Its good too, because the mom won’t feel as lonely if she has at least one of her kids with her:)

    Hope I could help! xx

  • It’ll be fine. Just make sure that they aren’t the opposite genders. If they are, get them fixed

Do I have an over crowded tank?

Answers Favorite AnswerDepends on the dimensions and the filter. I'd say it's right at the limit and certainly no more room for more fish. However, if you get a water testing kit and check the nitrate you'd know for sure.I would cut down the zebra danios to or so and get rid of the pleco. The Pleco may seem fine but they grow large. Instead of a Pleco add some Cory catfish, they would make a nice addition to your tank and are also a great clean up crew. Oh yeah and if you think "well I've had my pleco for a few years and it hasnt grown to fast, I'll just keep it" don't. That's just it's growth being stunted. I had a common Pleco in a gallon at one time for about years, he didn't grow much until I realeased him into my gallon pond. After just months he had grown more then ever before. My point is keep the zebra danios and not the pleco as harsh as it sounds.i hoped this helped and good luck!Source(s): Personal expirenceThe Pleco will need to be in a bigger tank probably within a year. is the russian dwarf hamster and campbell hamsters are the same?

Answers Favorite AnswerThanks Cloud Nine I consider myself to know a lot about Hamster and even I have had a lot of trouble knowing for sure what species and breeds are which. Syrians are easy! But In the Dwarf family it goes like this.Russian,Chinese,Robo as being the main three I think people know are being different. But you also see these names from most to least common.Winter WhiteCampbellDjungarianSiberianProbably others as well... And I know that some of these are the exact same type of hamsters or very close hybrids etc. But your answer Cloud Nine cleared some things up however it's still a difficult thing to remember correctly. I personally have only had the campbell dwarfs I guess. And yes they can be aggressive etc. But it all depends on there personality. If your really luck, know what your doing and have a good cage setup most of the problems with caging them together or handling them can be prevented or reduced. Sometimes they are very friendly and it's kind of scary!Source(s): Owned Syrian Hamsters + Russian Dwarf HamstersThat's a tricky question to answer. There is the Russian Winter White dwarf hamster and then there is the Russian Campbell dwarf Read more

WHAT IS THE CHEAPEST DOG YOU CAN GET?

hi, I hope you can all help me!! I am trying to persuade my mum and dad to get me a pet i think if a dog was cheaper they would get me another one!! thanks xxThere are always free to good home ads in the papers. Adopting from shelters are usually fairly cheap. The problem is not the intial cost. Dogs are expensive, regardless of breed. Food, grooming, vet visits, neutering, shots, tags, toys, leashes, dog bed, collars, training, are a few of those expenses. Then if the dog gets sick, more money. The cheapest dog would be a dog you rescued from somebody who can no longer care for their dog. On craigslist, there are tons of people who have to find new homes for their dogs because they're losing their home. Many are offering their pets as free to a good home. There are some wonderful dogs out there that don't deserve to be put down.I'm guessing your parents realize the responsibility of owning a dog which means shots, grooming, walking, training, boarding at times, flea prevention products, heartworm prevention, healthcare. Maybe you could ask them in what ways you could help with the dog that would make them Read more

Leopard gecko not ate in a while?

Well, i bought a tangerine leopard gecko on the 8th of january 2013 to go with my male normal leopard gecko. He eats perfectly fine but everytime i feed her, she never eats anything? she might be eating mealworms in the night but im not so sure. Also, her poo is a little runny if you know what i mean?Update:please reply, i just really dont want her to be sick1 Answer? Favorite AnswerLike us geckos can get tummy bugs! Don't worry females often stop eating before they lay eggs. This may be the case if the two have been doing things don't worry but this may be a poosibility. Try feeding her a waxworm as they are addictive and geckos favourite food, don't however feed her many as this makes it worse, give he one or two if she eats them, this can be enough to bring her back onto her food. If she is on sand it may be impaction, this is unlikely if she was on sand before. (They eat carefully on sand because of this, she may not be used to it) if this doesn't work or settle take her to a vet, sometimes Geckos do this Read more
