Nascar Nation , …….first…..?

What was the first race you went too, local or nascar ?

If you can remember the year too ? LOL

For me it was Bryan moter speedway 1958 ,A small 3/8 mile .

I’ve learned that regardless of how steamy a relationship is at first, the passion fades, and there better be a lot of money to take it place!!!!

  • In 1977 My father started taking me to Toledo Speedway I was 5 years old, we had our own cool folding chairs with back rests so we didn’t have to sit on the bench, we also had cool ear protection.

The following year Dad stepped it up a notch, and we went to Watkins Glen, to see “the Big Boy’s race”!!!

  • My first race I went to was at a 1/2 mile dirt track about 5 miles from where I grew up (Husets Speedway) . Couldn’t tell you what year though we went every Sunday night during the summer fora while. My first (& only so far) NASCAR race was the spring race at Texas Motor Speedway in 25. Drove 12 hrs to get there. Kansas is closer to home, but the people I went with liked Texas better.

  • I was about 5, so that would make it around 1983. My parents took us to a race at Columbus Motor Speedway, in Columbus, Ohio. All I really remember from the action, was a car spinning out twice in front of us. And that during the race, a transformer on some power lines behind the grandstands we were in started sparking. They had to red flag the race until on of the guys in the in field, came over and fixed the problem.

  • I was 5 or 6 1993 Grundy County Speedway lil 1/2 mile asphalt track – met Dale Earnhardt and Mark Martin

21-present Chicagoland Speedway – People can go to races there whole life and not see their driver win, i was able to see Harvick win the first two races i ever went to.

  • I went to the 1984 World 6 at Charlotte. I was 9 years old and Bobby Allison won after Yarborough blew up late in the race. I didn’t care about Nascar for the next 15 years or so. So the next race I went to was the 23 Spring race at RIR. I have been to about 30 races since then.

  • I didnt find this out until a few day ago but my dad and grandpa when I was knee high to a grasshopper to a dirt track called Devil’s Bowl speedway in Mesquite Texas. I dont remember anything about it. My first cup race was the 24 Food City 5 in Bristol. I had went to several truck races at Texas(97,99,)

  • Early sixties, I don’t remember the exact year..

Bridgehampton LI, United States Road Racing Championship, aka USRRC.. Later became the Can-Am.. Featuring drivers like Jim Hall, Hap Sharp, Roger Penske, Walt Hansgen, Dan Gurney, Pedro Rodriguez, John Surtees.. I met most of them (imagine doing that these days)..

I was really impressed, at how close everyone was, and how much help they were to each others racing efforts.. I had never seen that in any sport before.. Imagine having a conversation with John Surtees about valve trains, and rubber compounds..

  • In 1988, I was six years old and I had my first true racing experience at Bloomington Speedway (dirt 1/2 mile). I’ve been hooked on racing ever since. Where is that track at OF?

  • I think we started going to a dirt track at the Brown County Fairgrounds, in Aberdeen, South Dakota when I was 4 or 5. That would make it about 1972 or ’73 maybe? We would go several times a summer. I remember the dust, noise and eating popcorn from brown paper bags in the bleachers! I always liked going to the races better than to the movies and it was cheaper. There were 4 of us kids, me being the youngest, and money was pretty tight back then.

Answers Favorite AnswerI agree. He defeated a tired Federer and a tired Djokovic in the finals of the Olympics and the US open. When Nadal comes back, Murray will go back to losing in the semi finals again and fall to # in the rankings, which is where that mama's choker boy belong, below the BIG .Murray is a top player, Novak was better today but Andy had a chance to win.no not a fluke he played well to win Olympics and Us openI guess it was also a fluke that he knocked out Federer in the semis?not me
