NEED HELP WITH WMP 11 for VISTA!?

our computer took a crap and we had to do a system recovery, everything works fine except windows media player 11. if you click any shortcut for it or any way to get there it keeps saying, “the file wmploc.dll has a version number 11.0.61.78 where 11.0.61.70 was expected. WMP is not installed properly and needs reinstalled.” then it has a link to microsofts web site and tells you to install it from there. WTF do i do and WTF is all those numbers? could i somehow change the 8 at the end to a 0 and would it work? thanks

  • you can use resource hacker to change it

  • Usually when your computer tells you something, (even though they can be stupid machines) it’s generally good to pay attention to what they say. “WMP is not installed properly and needs reinstalled,” is a perfect example of this, and should be followed.

Go to your favorite search engine and type in “Windows Media PLayer 11 download.” Being free Microsoft software in the first place, the download should be free.

If your problems still persists after re-downloading, then I am afraid I don’t know what to tell you.

Hope this answered your question, and good luck to your future computing! =]
