normal for first time getting drunk? now what to do?

I had 6 shots of whisky (never had hard liquer before, just like a few light beers on a couple of occassions). This, I drank in about an hour, finishing drinking about 2 or 3 hours ago. At first I felt like my face was going numb and had poor balance, hard to concentrate, and was unusually relaxed, but now I feel like my normal self again. Is this normal after drinking 6 shots? Or should I still feel drunk, or sick or something. Im a little sleepy, but it’s 10:30 p.m. Will I definately have a hangover in the morning? I’m going to bed now because I need to get up at 8 a.m. to go whitewater kayaking tomorrow afternoon. By the way, I am 6’2″ 170 lbs. I have a really high metabolism. Just ate a big dinner and drank about a quart of water to help prevent dehydration in the morning, and was given a couple of ibruprofen to limit a hangover. Also, is it normal for someone to need to drink a lot more than 6 shots to get pretty drunk?

  • If you’re sobered up now you should be okay. I advise you don’t get drunk the day before going kayaking though…actually did that with some buddies and the hangover can make you feel soo seasick and horrible.
