Seeing my ex on facebook made me sad but why?

We broke up like in 2010 and we were long distance. Other day he posted something on facebook,I wanted to message him after he already logged out. I clicked on his page and wanted to cry. It was so long ago why do I still care? I mean yeah I loved him,and he was one of the few I have loved but still. Also think about him sometimes once in awhile,just why did hurt seeing his facebook?
