Should I wear flats with my ball dress? (Makeup and hair ideas too)?

I know this may seem a bit odd..
Until yesterday I was fixed on wearing some really nice heels with my ball dress (which I haven’t got yet). But if you think about it, spending money on heels that I will most definitely take off as soon as I get there. It’s not really worth it.
What do you think?
Should I go with the heels or be different and wear some (nice) flats?
I’m thinking a nice emerald dress because I love the colour + I’m a brunette so I think it would go nicely with my hair.

I’d also like suggestions on makeup and how I could have my hair.

i think flats would be pretty cute, and whatever color you dress is besides emerald, should be the color of the shoe. (for example if the dress has some black the shoes should be black) for makeup, i would not reccomend using a lot of color b/c it would be too much. something natural would be fine, especially something black and elegant. and you could curl your hair if you want to. 🙂
