  • ice cubes will sink if there is enough alcohol in the beverage. I think your numbers might be a little off, though. In 80+ proof (40+%), ice cubes should sink, I believe. I can’t imagine there are many mixed drinks where ice cubes will sink- there just usually isn’t enough alcohol to bring the solution’s density to below that of ice. (If the density of the solution is less than ice, the ice will sink).
