UCAS PERSONAL STATEMENT FOR PSYCHOLOGY? Opinions on getting to personal?

So I’m applying to university in London to study psychology. I read up that your first paragraph should be how your interest in psychology started and it must be interesting and reel them in. For mine I wrote about how I grew up with an alcoholic mother and how I started to question it and that I understood from an early age it was a disease. I then went onto say my brother has social anxiety and that i believe my mother’s alcoholism triggered it. I don’t speak about these things with people and I am a very private person, but I know I will have to show my guidance councillor which I suppose I don’t mind. But anyway, do you think this is too personal to write? Should I take it out? also, any tips from anyone?
