  • Of all the maid of honor’s duties the most important is to offer moral support to the bride. That and lend a sympathetic ear, a helping hand and a shoulder to lean on. The maid of honor has many responsibilities to ensure the wedding planning and the wedding day is worry-free for the bride. She is to relieve the bride of the more stressful burdens, so the bride may enjoy her wedding to its fullest.

Help out during the rehearsal dinner

Buy the couple a wedding gift

    Wedding Day Duties:

Decorate the reception site (and clean up at the end of the night)

    Help the bride get dressed

Either pick up or receive (if delivered) the wedding flowers from the florist

Distribute the bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages to the wedding party and the couple’s parents and grandparents

  • The maid of honor is the bride’s closest friend and her biggest duty is that she is supposed to help the bride get ready on the day of the wedding. She also plans the bridal shower and/or the bachelorette party. She coordinates with the bridesmaids and makes sure that everyone knows what they are supposed to do. She can advise the bride during wedding preparations. During the ceremony she holds the bride’s bouquet and the groom’s ring and she gives a speech at the reception.

  • The maid of honor has a big responsiblity. It is her job to assist the bride with anything she needs and to ease the burdens from the bride as much as possible. That’s actually the job of all the girls. She may plan the Bridal Shower and assist with anything there, although most of the time, all the girls help together, bachelorette party, assisting the bride with getting dress, straightening her dress and veil at the altar and for pictures, holding bouquet when the bride has her hands full with something else, making a toast at the reception, helping in picking out the dresses. This is why the bride picks a maid of honor— the utmost person she trusts and is closest too. A very important honor with much responsibility.

  • Contrary to popular belief, the maid of honor has NO official duties at a wedding, short of being at the bride’s side during the ceremony, possibly arranging the bachelorette party and bridal showers, and assisting the bride prior and after the ceremony. Anything else the bride would want the maid of honor to do should be discussed between the two of them and not assumed. That way, the bride will not lose a friend by assuming she shares her vision of her big day.

    Hopes that help.

  • The maid of honor is not only in charge of holding flowers anymore. They organized the wedding shower, the bachelorette party and some go as far as actually planning the wedding itself. But above that being maid of honor to whomever it is, is to make sure that the bride is OK, give encouragement, help where you can help, and take a step back if needed.

  • To cater to the bride. It is your number one duty to be there for her and to meet her needs. She picked you, which must mean you are pretty special, because she knew you would back her up no matter what.

As far as duties go, you arrange the bachlorette party, possibly the wedding shower, and arrive at her house the day of the wedding before anyone else to take care of her and make sure she gets everything she needs. Being a Maid-of-Honor is a selfless act…it definitely is NOT a day about you.

  • A maid of honor should help the bride to prepare her wedding day. She accompany the bride to look for wedding dress, wedding shoes, find catering, determine the sitting arrangement and of course hold a bachelorette party. At the party, she has the honor to say something about the couple and also help manage the present

  • I was the maid of honor for 3 weddings and here were my Duties:

Arranging the Bridal Shower with the assistance of the bride maids and the Bride Family

Arranging the Bachlorette party with the assistance of the bride maids

Holding the Bride’s flowers during the ceremony when it was asked for by the minister/priest

Holding her train if she had one and straighten it out during the ceremony

Giving a toast if the Bride wanted one

Making sure the Bride had the addresses for her Thank you cards

    from her Bridal Shower

Getting games and prizes for the Bridal Shower with the assistance from the bride maids

For the wedding it was the bride maids that walked down first then I walked in with the Best man then the Bride walked in with her parents

I hope this helps you out !!

  • First and foremost you’re to be there for the bride. She may start planning years in advance want you by her side for every detail. She however, may not. Specific details, will include (but are not limited to) throwing Bridal/Wedding showers and Bachelorette party (with help from family, friends and other bridesmaids). You’ll most likely need to purchase your own attire and be with the bride all day, the day of the wedding (if not the day/s before). You may be asked to make a toast at the reception as well. While the bride is mingling at the reception or finishing up getting ready (if the reception is at a different location than the ceremony) you’ll need to help gather her belongings for her departure. You’ll want to make sure all of her thinks make it from her car to the limo (or groom’s car) so she’ll have them for the wedding nignt/honeymoon.

  • Taking care of the bride as her best relative or friend. Asking her what needs to get done and helping her do those things. You shouldn’t be doing things that she should be doing with the groom like wedding photos and wedding cake and wedding flowers…etc. Making the bride feel more comfortable and less stressed if you can. Ask her if she wants to have a bachelorette party (wedding shower) and if so, you should organize it, but paying for it is a different thing. You have to work out the financial details of any pre-wedding parties according to what you actually can do, it’s not just your responsibility to do it all, just to try to assist the bride. Most things are for the bride and groom only.
