what should I do about hitting a car?

I got into a fender bender about a month ago and the girl didn’t file a police report or anything because I don’t have insurance, I told her I would pay her what the estimate was. Well I just found out around a month later that the estimate was around . I was not all in fault and her friends were driving her uncles car and parked in the middle of the parking lot…that’s why I backed into it. Anyways after a month has gone by and I told her I would pay her in october can they even do anything legally anymore?? Just wondering.

She can take you to small claims court. Since you were driving without insurance, which is illegal, they will likely come after you harder, even if you feel it isn’t totally your fault. Try making payments. She really cut you a break. Consider it you get out of jail free card, literally. Don’t try to screw her over for doing something nice for you.

Ok you hit a parked car so you are at fault.

You are uninsured, so you cant file a claim on your policy.

You have options;

; Go to a repair shop, tell them you have no insurance. Ask that these people take to the repair shop for an estimate. The repair shop may find that the repairs can be done for say $, vs $,. It does not mean they are cheating, but most shops if there is no insurance, will write higher estimates.

ie; replace with new bumper vs used bumper or repairing bumper

when you go with insurance, the repair shop knows that if this is an older car, they cannot write an estimate for a new bumper since the insurance company will never authorize and pay for it. If something can be repaired vs replaced, what would you pay? the same goes for insurance.

nd option; have the other person file a claim with their insurance company and they will again verify if the damages are $, or less. also if you go with the other persons company, might be able to set up a monthly payment plan to repay in one year.

even though no police report, they could later come back and file suit on you for damaging the other auto.

good luck

They were parked and you backed into them. It doesn’t matter where or how they were parked. You were moving and they weren’t, that makes it % your fault. You were driving with no insurance, which was your choice. Now you have to pay to fix their car. People like you are why my insurance is so expensive. They can sue you, and you will end up paying more than $.

You backed into a car that was “in the middle of the parking lot” and it’s not your fault? Everyone else is required to have insurance to drive and you don’t? I hope they sue the crap out of you and you lose your licence.

if no report was filed and she has nothing on paper, then yu are pretty much free to put your foot down and walk away from this, just realize she may not appreciate your change of heart…

without anything on paper there is no evidence any thing happened, and no way for her to demand money from you. Unless you have already started actually paying her back… becasue if they can prove that you have been giving her money, then the burden falls on you to explain the payments without accepting fault for the accident.
