Western media and propaganda is the problem. The Americans have little exposure to Muslims in America so they assume that all Muslims are those represented in their daily doses of propaganda and misinformation. Then there is the simple element of xenophobia. In summary, chock it up to disturbingly profound ignorance and arrogance.

R&S is also the wrong place to look for sympathy. This section is dominated by mean spirited atheist trolls.

Most people dont hate Muslims, yall think we do because thats all thats on the news and the news stations know that will sale. Now a lot do hate Muslims, but I myself refuse to get caught up in the propaganda from either side.

Why don’t you take a look at Islamic scripture. It allows husbands to beat their wives. Muhammad himself beat his wife Aisha. Apostates and gays are to be killed.

Yeah, just like Rezluz said, your leaders arent acting against the extremists. They usually just say terrorism is very sad and then move on. They dont really speak out or take action against the terrorist groups.

It’s very complicated. Part of it is the media; violence sells, so by promoting a narrative that all followers of Islam want to kill “infidels” news networks get more viewers. Obviously, this is a goal, so they do that. The fact that there are people still bombing American forces in Afghanistan (never mind the fact that that COULD be as much due to the fact that we more or less invaded and are imposing American ideals on a country that doesn’t necessarily want them…) doesn’t help.

Another part of it is that we fear that which is different from our experience. Christianity is the predominant religion in the US, so we tend to be nervous about non-Christian, non-white groups.

Basically? Base prejudice. It’s not a good reason, and some of us are more levelheaded and do try to explain that most Muslims see Al-Queda and other extremist/radical groups as the equivalent to the Westboro Baptist Church, but we can only do so much when the media promote a different view of reality.

The common misconceptions about Islam arise in the minds of a majority of
non-Muslims, because they are constantly being bombarded with
misinformation about Islam. International media is mainly controlled by the
western world, whether it is international satellite channels, radio stations, news
papers, magazines or books. Recently the Internet has become a powerful
medium of information. Though it is not controlled by anybody, one finds a large
amount of virulent propaganda about Islam on the Internet. Of course, Muslims
too are utilizing this tool to portray the right image of Islam and Muslims, but
they are far behind as compared to the propaganda against Islam. I hope the
efforts by the Muslims will increase and continue to be pursued.

(Da’wah is a duty)

Most Muslims know that Islam is a universal religion, meant for all mankind.
Allah (swt) is the Lord of the entire Universe, and Muslims have been entrusted
with the duty of conveying His message to all mankind. Alas, most Muslims
today have become callous towards this duty! While accepting Islam as the best
way of life for ourselves, most of us are unwilling to share this knowledge with
those to whom the message has not yet been conveyed.
The Arabic word Da’wah means a call or an invitation. In Islamic context, it
means to strive for the propagation of Islam.
The Glorious Qur’an says:
“Ah! Who is more unjust than those who conceal the testimony they
have from Allah? But Allah is not unmindful of what ye do!”
[Al-Qur’an 2:140]

Not all Muslims are terrorists but all Muslims belong to the world’s largest terrorist organization which is called Islam.

Your problem, sir, is if you had any moral values at all you would throw out the terrorist organization you belong to. For some reason you won’t do that and that’s why you will always have my complete contempt.

One more thing: Since Islam is a branch of theism it’s fair to say theism is a terrorist organization. Therefore if theists had any moral values they would throw out their theism disease. It’s nothing to do with media. If you wanna a religion based on violence and killing infidels then you can’t complain when some people take that aspect and use it as an excuse to do atrocious, evil things.

Simple answer? As the previous writer stated, stand up and shut down all Muslims who spew the vitriol that motivates the killings. No one sees the ‘good’ Muslims doing this so how can you trust any of them?

Complex answer? Islam has to eradicate from its codex all notions of killing as a justified means to an end. So long as this sort of ‘code’ exists the programming is allowed to be carried out by the mules. Then there are the cultural overtones that exacerbate the ability for rational people to accept ‘Muslims’ since so many practice in country’s where people are treated like dirt, especially women. Finally, all religons have a egoist based condition that is problamatic. No prophet would espouse death and destruction much less treating people like dirt. It is the egoists who create these conditions and then hide their despicable behavior behind the cloak of ‘religion’ or religiosity to justify their actions.

You do your best to follow your religion. Then how could you possibly not expect to be hated? Have you not read the Quaran? Are you completely ignorant of the things Muhammad says? Only G-D can BUILD HIS TEMPLE Psalm 127:1 with HIS stones HIS SPIRIT gathers in the earth and makes ready to build above and below HIS KINGDOM 1 Kings 6:7 and Psalm 118:22-23.

Come to G-D and He will embrace you. Isaiah 56:7-8 come and Hear & Obey Prov.1:7-8 Jer.11:7-8

Look a the historic record. Islam has a long and bloody history ripe with aggressive expansion and oppression. If it’s a peaceful religion it’s peace comes on it’s own terms and submission is the price. You might not be a terrorist,but the religion you follow uses them like a tool. The argument not all Muslims are terrorists holds no more water than any other “no true Scottsman” claim. The facts are that Sharia is a Muslim instution and it is opressive by our standards. Bin Laden was a Muslim and had a strong following of Muslims.

Believe what you want but understand this. If you want us to trust Islam then Islam is going to have to change. Deeds must match words. Jizya, taqquia, kitman, foster distrust and demonstrate bigotry and arrogance.

Instead of trying to change our perception of what we see. Try changing what we see.

So you don’t hate Osama Bin Laden because he killed 30 people in the name of your religion, you hate him because he made you and your cohorts look bad?
