Most of my friends will just say hi or bye. But I have one guy friend who always greets me by name. Here are some examples. Hi Jen how are you? or Bye Jen you take it easy. It makes sense to use my name if I’m in a group of people but he also uses my name if it’s just us 2 talking. Why do some people always use your name in greetings?

It used to be called being courteous, but I guess if you feel it’s weird, then maybe it is.
Some people are just formal.
