Will Apple kill the Flash the platform?

When the iPod Touch didn’t support Flash I thought, well the iPod will be short lived until they do something about that quick. We all knew why, because they do not want poeple watching movies and TV from sites like hulu. They want you to buy it from iTunes. Obviously they are not going to come out and say that. No one will surf the web without browser plug ins. Now not only do poeple not seem to care about flash which is a large part of the internet these days, but Apple is also not supporting Flash on $5-$9 iPad. The price of 2 laptops and they still only support partial interent browsing. The real kicker is that no one cares. Are we to assume now, Flash is on its way out? Apple products are getting more ande more popular. Developers are going to want to develop on a more common platform.

  • Plug-ins would be a conflict of interest. They do not want you watching free TV shows and movies from sites like Hulu. They want you to have to buy it from iTunes. It was a good move for them. People are willing to go without or purchase content online for free to have their flashy toys. A very neat flashy toy at that.

  • Some believe that Flash would allow content that would compete with the App Store but the main reason Flash is not supported by Apple on these devices has to do with the iPhone developers’ terms of service agreement, which stated, “An Application may not itself install or launch other executable code by any means, including without limitation through the use of a plug-in architecture, calling other frameworks, other APIs or otherwise…. No interpreted code may be downloaded and used in an Application except for code that is interpreted and run by Apple’s Published APIs and built-in interpreter(s).”

Also Flash would potentially introduce a slew of performance problems as well. Flash has been known for sporadic crashing and quickly depleting battery life, as well as security risks

Flash is already being dropped by some sites in favors of HTML5.

  • REALLY! I AGREE TOTALLY. ITS SUCH A RIP OFF BY APPLE! Adobe made a page and everything saying “Adobe does not support iPhones and iPod touches because of Apple Restrictions, Flash will not be supported for your device untill Apple Removes these Restrictions”

    WHAT THE F***

Flash is a must have for browsing. No one uses Quicktime and no one uses iTunes to buy movies!!!

  • secure practices is a concern in what you describe, and compatibility between structures. Flash (regrettably) and HTML+CSS+JavaScript attain extensive audiences on many systems and gadget varieties. Flash (fairly) and HTML+CSS+JavaScript have secure practices effective properties designed-in to furnish shopper-area secure practices. That is going out the window with unmanaged code. i wish Flash dies. HTML (5) is here to stay.
