I want to make a ping-pong table that i can just place over my pool table. After I cut, paint, and tape it correctly, would it still work well. To simplify, would the plywood react (bounce) correctly enough to play.

Yes! use a thick sheet of MDF Maybe cut some blocks for underside (to prevent sag)
A ping pong table is ‘ long. A piece of plywood is only ‘ long. If you’re going to do it right, you’ll need two pieces of plywood, each cut down a bit.

My friend’s cheap ping pong table was made of cheap particle board with a painted finish. I would say any type of wood would work. But i would opt for a /” thick MDF or Birch plywood to add some rigidity to it. Throw some paint on it to match your decor and your all set.
Yes it would! You just have to get a high grade piece of plywood, which is thick enough not to deflect. And paint with a very fine furniture grade paint roller, in order to get a very fine texture.
You might want to consider getting a sheet of MDF instead of plywood, it might suit the purpose better, and it might not break your budget! Expect to spend $+ on a decent sheet of plywood, VS $- for a good sheet of / MDF.
Hope this helps
luan plywood works fine.HD’s sandply wont stand up outdoors./ birch plywood would make a handsome table.
Your best bet is to use pc / = .” and screw together with / screws …keep screw side down..Good as a real
Not likely, but a few types of ply might suffice.
Abatong ply (forgot how to spell it) can be pretty freakin’ consistently dense and hard.
Most types of ply – forget it.
