WWE Slammy Awards – Who are your winners for 29? (All Categories) +BQ?

1. Superstar of the Year:

The Undertaker. He’s had a great year so far, and in my opinion, if anyone should win this award it should be Taker. At Wrestlemania he had one of the most legendary matches in history against Shawn Michaels, he’s had great feuds and storylines throught the entire year, and he even got a much deserved title reign. Undertaker is the reason that Smackdown has improved so much these past couple of months. His matches are always nothing short of excellent and he really knows what he’s doing in the ring. The other superstars in this category have also had a pretty good year, but a lot of their matches have been repetitive and sometimes even boring. The Undertaker is the best wrestler to win Superstar of the Year.

2. “DAMN!” Moment of the Year:

Edge goes down to Injury. After Edge and Chris Jericho were entered into the Tornado Tag Team match a while back, everyone thought they were going to turn out to be one of the greatest tag teams in the WWE currently. We all had very high expectations for them and assumed they would become a very dominant team simply because they are arguably the two greatest heels today. So, when Edge got injured it was such a huge shock and disappointment. The rest of the nominees in this category weren’t even surprising to me, so I think Edge’s injury should get this award.

3.Match of the Year:

Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker – WrestleMania 25. No question about it, this was the single greatest match of 29. If it weren’t for this amazing match, Wrestlemania 25 wouldn’t have even been half as good as it was. Taker vs. HBK was the reason that the 25th Anniversary of Wrestlemaina turned out to be so great. The whole match was just so exciting and fun to watch. It was constantly going back and fourth and everyone was at the edge of their seats waiting to see if the Undertakers winning streak would continue. This match will definitely go down as one of the greatest matches of all time.

4.OMG Moment of the Year:

Vince McMahon sells Monday Night RAW. I think Donald Trump buying Monday Night Raw deserves to win the OMG Moment of the year, simply because I don’t think a lot of people saw it coming. As for the other nominees in this category, some of them were not even unexpected.

5. Diva of the Year:

Michelle McCool. I know a lot of people don’t like her, but all that means is she’s doing a pretty good job at being a heel. On top of that, she made history when she became the first Diva to have held both the Woman’s Championship and Diva’s Championship. The rest of the nominated Diva’s haven’t really accomplished anything out of the ordinary this year.

6. Couple of the Year:

Honestly, I could really care less who wins this award, and I’m not even sure that any of the nominated couples deserve to win it because none of them even did anything great. I guess if I had to choose, I would pick Dolph Ziggler and Maria, I have no idea why though…

7. Extreme Moment of the Year:

John Cena chokeslammed through searchlight at Backlash. I don’t like John Cena, and usually I’m very bored during his matches, but when he got chokeslammed through the search light at Backlash earlier this year, I’ll admit it was very extreme, even more extreme than the other events in this category.

8. Best Finishing Maneuver:

Go To Sleep (GTS) – CM Punk. I’m not a CM Punk fan either, but compared to the other finishers nominated, I would have to say the GTS deserves it most. This finisher lead to Punk winning a number of his matches and put him on the main event spotlight for a while.

9. Tag Team of the Year:

Jerishow – Chris Jericho & Big Show. It was unexpected that Chris Jericho would select The Big Show to replace Edge as him Tag Team partner, and nobody knew how these to would work out as a team. They turned out to be the most dominant Tag Team of 29, and they are excellent Unified Tag Team Champions together. They are the perfect combination for a powerful tag team- Big Show is the power and strength of the team, and Jericho is the talker, the technician. and the speed of the team. Together they have been at the top of the tag team division and are part of the reason that WWE’s tag team division is so much better this year than it was last year.

10. Best Impersonation:

Santino for any one of his impersonations…

11. Announce Team of the Year:

Jerry Lawler & Michael Cole. Plain and simple: They are more entertaining to listen to than the other announce teams.

12. Best WWE.com Exclusive:

The Dirt Sheet. It’s really funny and entertaining to watch.

13. Best Musical Performance:

Kid Rock – WrestleMania 25. The other performances nominated really weren’t that great in my opinion.

14. Breakout Star of the Year:

Christian. Ever since returning to the WWE, he’s been on quite a roll on Ecw. He’s the Ecw Champion, he has a great fan following, he’s good on the mic, and his matches are always really fun to watch.

BQ: I think the WWE in 29 has had it’s ups and downs. Some high points were Taker vs. HBK at WM 25, Christian retruning to the WWE, Undertaker becoming a World Champion again, WWE adding WWE Superstars to it’s shows, the Royal Rumble, and many other things. But like every year, WWE also has it’s low points like Jeff Hardy becoming Champion again, Punk winning Money in the Bank for the second year in a row, good wrestlers having to job to Hornswoggle, Jillian Hall being treated as a joke in the Woman’s Division, Triple H never losing a one on one match fairly, and others. So, if I were to rate it, I’d probably give it a 7 out of 10.
