HELLLLP ! My venus fly trap is flowering. What do I doooo?

The flower won’t open and now my plant is looking homely. Should I cut the flowery part off? I read something and they said I should do that but then they said the plant might die anyway 🙁

Update:

I fed it bugs and it spit them out. Obviously I know plants can’t spit..but I’d come back in the morning and the bug would be gone 🙁 Weird right?

  • It probably feels emasculated from all the hand-feeding you’ve been giving it. Try calling it “Jack Palance” and see if it perks up.

Source(s): OH! Or that “Walker, Texas Ranger” guy. What’s his name?

  • are you sure you put the fly far enough down? there are tiny hairs that are triggered when touched and cause the trap to close. normally I’ve seen the for about $5-7. That is weird that they sold it for only a dollar. I am not too sure. I would just leave it there for a little while make sure the fly is not too big and don’t close the trap with your fingers, that causes the plant to lose energy or something

  • Um…that is interesting. Maybe it needs some more flies or something to make the flower flower. Sometimes if you cut off the flower it can die. And sometimes if you leave the flower it can still die because it’s giving all of its’ energy to reproduce. But I guess either way…it will die. Sorry to be negative.

  • Put it outside in the shade so it can catch some bugs like it is supposed to do in its natural environment. It’s starving from lack of nutrition.

  • This site says to snip the flower as close as possible to the base.

And lots of other interesting stuff.
