Chloe Leah
At the C.K. Williams Reading Series, Raena Shirali will read from her latest collection, Gilt. The award-winning poet has previously published in the Boston Review, Ninth Letter, Tupelo Quarterly, and Crazyhorse. She has received several honors and prizes including a Pushcart Prize and the Gulf Coast Poetry Prize. She also serves as a poetry reader at Muzzle Magazine.
Raena Shirali
Poet and educator Raena Shirali has a forthcoming collection entitled ‘A Message in a Bottle,’ and is the author of two previous collections. She was the recipient of the Milt Kessler Poetry Book Award and, in 2018, was awarded the Black Lawrence Press Hudson Prize for her third collection. A former Philip Roth Resident at Bucknell University, she has been honored with a Pushcart Prize and has been published in numerous journals, including American Poetry Review and the Gulf Coast Review. She also serves as a poetry reader for Muzzle Magazine.
If you would like to hear a reading by one of these two poets, you are encouraged to attend the event. The event is free and open to the public, but you must reserve tickets. Raena Shirali or Chloe Leah is an outstanding poet and an excellent choice for this event. It is also the culmination of a year of literary activities at Princeton University, which has been the source of many Pulitzer Prize winning poets.
Ruth Awad
Lebanese-American poet, Ruth Awad is the author of Set to Music a Wildfire, winner of the 2016 Michael Waters Poetry Prize and the 2018 Ohioana Book Award for Poetry. She is the co-editor of The Familiar Wild: On Dogs and Poetry and the recipient of the 2020 Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award. She is also the winner of the 2012 Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Prize and the 2011 Copper Nickel Poetry Contest. Her poems have appeared in Poetry, Poem-a-Day, The Believer, among others.
Among the other members of the board of directors are Pritchard, Daniel (B.S., M.A., Ph.D.) and Hester, Bridgette (B.S., M.A., Ph.D.). Andres (B.S., M.Div., Ph.D.), and Snavely-Isaac (M.A., Ph.D.).
Xavier Ada
During the season premiere of “Chloe Leah,” Leah and Hazem are dating. At first, they’re both hesitant about the relationship, but as the relationship grew, Leah started to open up to Hazem. They go on a date and have a picnic together. However, after the revelations about people smuggling, racial tensions increase in the town. During dinner, Hazem is racially taunted by a group of drunken men. Leah expresses her disapproval of a pro-refugee rally and is attacked by a racist mob. She ends up sustaining minor injuries in the attack, but does not know who is responsible.
After the incident, Leah and Xavier went on a trip to Greece, where they bailed out their brother Alex. Unfortunately, Alex was arrested for drug trafficking, and Leah was left to care for VJ. While there, she found VJ with the drugs Alex possessed. After the incident, the pair decided to stay friends, but Miles was not happy with their relationship.
David Aguirre
David Aguirre is a Pflugerville School Board member who was recently elected to serve in the 2021 general election. He moved to Pflugerville in 1984 with his wife, Janie. They have three children who all attended Pflugerville school systems. Their children attribute their successful careers to their parents’ educational decisions. David has volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, and organized charity golf tournaments to benefit Easter Seals. He is also a member of his local church.
