i have two laptops both with vista and one no longer boots after downloading sp. when running startup repair it tells me that the system volume on the disk is corrupt. i was wondering if i could connect the two laptops somehow in order to transfer the hdd info from the laptop that does not boot to the one that does. please help.
also ive already tried to boot in safemode and each time it just freazes in crcdrive and does not load, and ive also tried lastworking configuration.
system restore begins and gets stuck on “finalizing file recovery” for hours

go to www.ubuntu.com
download Ubuntu and burn it to a CD
use the Ubuntu disc to boot the broken laptop. from there you can copy files to an external hard drive
