right leg won’t support weight after strenuous dancing?

I usually do little physical activity but I was trying to learn a dance and doing a certain move repeatedly has hurt my leg. The move can be seen in this video (it’s mirrored) from like :-:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAFyPXOpFeg It’s the move when the drop to the floor and move back up.

After practicing the move a few times I noticed my right leg hurt above the knee so I stopped. I thought it would go away, but I have since noticed that the leg won’t support any weight unless completely straight, and that when sitting in a chair, I can’t straighten the leg (i.e. kick). If I am standing and bend at the knees, my left leg has to support all the weight. It has been a few days now. Today I have started taking ibuprofen, but I don’t think it’s helped any yet. Help??

  • Honestly, it sounds like you pulled your quad (if the pain is on the top of the leg-if back of leg it’s the hamstring). ICE IT, take the advil if it helps. You might want to get it checked by a doctor to make sure that it’s not serious. Pulls can take a couple of weeks to a couple of months to heal depending on how bad the pull is. Stretch, but do not stretch to the point of pain, pull back from there. Also the fact that you aren’t normally active does play a part in this, if your body isn’t stretched out first it’s more prone to injury.
