40 weeks pregnant, am i in labour?

I’m 40 weeks pregnant, my due date was yesterday (I think … i mixed up the dates a little so it might have been last Sunday!)

All night last night i was up every 2 hours-ish with low back pain, which im guessing were contractions. But since about 9am the pains haven’t been that regular anymore, they seem to be getting coser together each time I have one. Like I had one 45 minutes after the 2 hourly ones, then after that 20 minutes and i think its 10 minutes apart now!

I’m ending up being in loads of pain and not being able to time the contractions and so I cant ring my midwife!

I am so confused, the pain is getting worse as well, but i’ve still been feeling the baby move, and I always thought that they didnt move when your in labour. Please help me understand?

Update:

Also, i was wondering whether babys move around during labour, because i’ve felt het stretching around a few ties in between my pains.

  • It sounds like irregular contractions. I had these for about 24 hours before my water finally broke and the contractions turned regular. You do need to call your midwife and let her know what is going on but will probably tell you it’s still going to be a while. Usually they can tell just by the sound of your voice whether it’s time to jump into action or not. And my daughter did move a little bit when the contractions were irregular but I don’t remember my daughter moving around during labor. Good luck! You’re almost there!

  • In a few females, the early contractions of actual hard work might suppose just like the Braxton Hicks contractions which have been happening for a couple of weeks. The handiest certain indicators of work are regular contractions of the uterus that come to be more and more longer, more potent, and nearer in combination. The contractions is also as some distance aside as each and every 10 mins or so within the establishing, however they would possibly not give up or ease up it doesn’t matter what you do. In time, the contractions come to be extra painful and nearer in combination. In a few instances, despite the fact that, the onset of powerful, consistent contractions comes with very little caution — it is exclusive for each and every lady and with each and every being pregnant. You will have to name your surgeon in case you enjoy any of those actual indicators of work: •The contractions accentuate with pastime (as a substitute than easing up) and are not relieved with a difference in role. •Pain starts within the curb again and spreads to the curb stomach or vice versa. •Contractions come to be more and more extra common and painful. Sometimes, the contractions additionally come to be extra consistent, however now not continuously. •”Show” (cervical mucus) is reward and is pinkish or blood-streaked. •Membranes rupture (the “water breaks”)
