Today women wearing hijab in the muslim world is considered a proof of a backwards culture. It is considered more civilized for women to wear “lighter” clothing. However 5 years ago, during the colonial era, when Europeans were discovering tribes that they were almost naked they used this as a proof that the tribes were uncivilized and barbarian.So a question needs to be answered. Why westerners always are thinking that they are superior compared to other civilizations? Do they have a complex or something?

Many people think they are superior to everyone.
Western culture really is better.
We have a higher standard of living. We have better health care, more medical and technological advances, and greater efficiency in pretty much all aspects.
For instance, it is better to have a factory produce a shirt than to have someone knit a shirt.
Why? Well, production costs are lower and likely, the shirt is made even better than a human could make.
Machines make much fewer errors than humans.
A muslim hijab hovers the head and sometimes face.
It is a symbol of oppression for women in these muslim societies.
It practically a big sheet that is meant to cover and hide, not to empower and embellish.
A western woman’s outfit is made nicely, embellishing her silhouette.
It does not cover the woman out of humility, as a hijab does.
The naked or half-naked tribes really are barbaric.
They usually have unsanitary piercings and dirty bodies.
It is unsanitary to have exposed dirty and sweaty flesh like that.
They are so exposed because they do not have the ability to manufacture clothing like westerners do. If they had the clothes, I’m sure they would wear them.
…Unless they just wanted to live like animals.
I think a good measure of how barbaric a culture is is to compare them to how similar they are to animals.
If conditions are nasty and clothing is not worn, then the culture is animal-like.
If conditions are clean and people wear proper clothing, this culture is not so much animal-like.
Therefore the culture that has risen above the animals is superior.
I hate when people actually have to ask why western culture is better.

It’s not the hijab, GnnS, it’s the way the extremists of any country treat their women that cause us to have pity, not look superior. Even in the malls here, the man, in his western shirt and gold necklaces and $50 haircut leads the way for his wife in the hijab and his girl children to follow. And we hear/read of the father who will actually KILL his daughter for dating the wrong man. It’s not superiority we feel, Gnns, it’s sorrow for what we believe to be repression.
Granted, we are raised to believe we live in the greatest nation on the planet (USA), and I have to say, you have to work pretty hard to argue against it. We have our faults, bet we’re pretty good.
