Does the new Windows come with Microsoft Word?

I am looking into re-purchasing Microsoft Word for my computer because it was lost when I had to do a restruct and recovery. If Windows comes with Microsoft Word I figured that would be easier, but I can’t find information on weather or not it does.

  • Unless paid for separately, no computers come with MS Office or any of its sub programs.

Unless it is a trial version.

And Windows is an Operating System, not a office program.

  • It’s a trial version. You can uninstall it if you want to, probably from the Remove Programs page. Look for Microsoft Office . But then you don’t have Microsoft Word. Hope that helps.

  • Word is not part of the operating system.

If it’s ever sold with the OS, it’s bundled by the OEM (Dell, HP, etc.) themselves.

If you just go out and buy Windows , it will include an improved version of WordPad, which can do basic word processing, but it doesn’t include any components of Office like Microsoft Word itself.

  • Word is not really for sale first of all. It’s sold as “Microsoft Office XXXX” and ranges from $ to $ depending on your need.

It comes with Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and various other programs, depending on your need. Most are worthless, other than the base components I listed previously.

You can illegally download it if you google it, and have it easily that way. I don’t recommend that though. 😉

  • It comes with a demo version, but on order to get the full Microsoft Word, you will need to input the key numbers for the software.

  • You have to pay extra for it. However, there is a free program called Open Office Writer that has all the same capabilities and uses the same formats as MS Word. It’s also much easier to use in my opinion. It’s developed by Sun Systems (the company behind Java) and is available for free at OpenOffice.org. The only downside is that it takes longer to start up.

  • No, they don’t.

I heard microsoft is going to make a free verison of microsoft word and excel for microsoft office , but that is not till next year.

  • No, sorry 🙁

But you can download Open Office for free! The Open Office Software is just like the Microsoft Office, (but better in my opinion, AND FREE!!!). I am a student and I need Word, Powerpoint, Excel, etc… and open office has a version of all of those. I love it!
