What are the enviromental consquences of using Solar Passive Energy?

I’m trying to prove a point 🙂 haha thanks

  • Using Passive Solar Energy is to consider in design to maximize control of solar gain in heat and light. The environmental consequence is less dependence on outside energy, no active compo nets or moving parts and a more comfortable living environment.
I guess that could mean some people may be more inclined to spend more time in the home and less running around the woods scaring the little critters.
  • Keeping the panels running efficiently takes a lot of water. spat panels are often in the desert so energy is consumed getting the water there. But i’m really grasping at straws. It’s pretty clean, just expensive.

  • I would say a negative consequence would potentiality be in the production of the solar panels – the energy used in making the panels (if coal/gas used for production energy), if the panels are made from virgin plastic, then you have the petrol-chemicals and associated emissions (air and water)

  • All the houses would be oriented in the same direction and be of similar design. Even active solar communities like Drake Landing are very monotonous in appearance.

High density complexes would not be possible as they would block off the sun for a significant area. Low density communities increase transportation and infrastructure costs.

Many use concrete which requires the baking of lime hence has a high carbon footprint. There are promising advances in changing this and it can be largely avoided by rammed earth in old tires.

Solar photovoltaics tough not a passive solar technology, require a lot of energy to manufacture and it’s unclear if this deficit is made up during the life of the panels ( silicon takes a lot of energy to melt ), the manufacturing process also produces toxic wastes.

  • Solar and wind energy are the two only Energy resources that are clean and environment friendly
Solar energy is directly received from sun and convert the thermal energy to electrical energy, this this process there is no carbon emission no radio active matter emission take place. Solar energy is very suitable for countries like India Where sun is visible for whole year and facing the lack of electricity problem, How ever it is a bit costly compare to electricity of coal or atomic energy but in India Govt is providing 30 to 40% subsidy on solar power so Solar could a good option for any industrialist or person living in rural areas and facing electricity problem
