Ethernet controller does not work after Windows Vista installed?

Update:

Yeah I thought it was the drivers but do not know the exact Ethernet Controller’s name, the PC is a Dell gx240

  • Do you know if the network controller integrated in the motherboard? Normally Windows Vista should detect the correct drivers but it could not hurt to reinstall the drivers. You can download the drivers from the manufacturer web site of your network controller or motherboard.

    But before doing that, here are a few easy things to try.

    -Run Windows Vista network diagnostic

    -Is the network cable properly connected at both ends

    -Restart the router and/or modem

    -Update Windows Vista

    -Look in the device manager if there is a hardware conflict with the controller

    Before installing the drivers, go in the device manager and uninstall the network controller and restart your PC after.

    Windows vista should already have those drivers however. Your PC was maid well before Vista.

  • download and install the drivers for the ethernet controller.

    if its onbord controller then goto the mfg’s web site to download it.
