Can my computer support VGA and DVI outputs at the same time?

I want a tv and a monitor to connect to my computer. Can i connect my monitor to the computer with a dvi input and at the same time use vga for my tv? PLEASE HELP! this is killing me.

it is a rca 42 inch hdtv and i have one nvidia 650 2gb card. i want to connect it with vga.

  • Yes, I have done that many times. Usually, however, the TV is connected from the DVI on the computer to the HDMI on the TV. Even though that is a HDMI connection, it does NOT carry the audio as a normal HDMI will. I am assuming the TV is HD. If not your connection is okay.

    You will go into the video setup to configure what you want the monitors to do. Usually, you point to the desktop, do a right click, and select monitor setup.

    I have always done this with two video cards. Not sure if is possible with just one card.

  • provided you have the connections, then yes. just tell the computer what to display on which screens by using adjusting the settings found under “screen resolution”.

    but please be aware that I have only ever tried this with a laptop and do not know for absolute certain that a desktop will do this.
