I downloaded an .exe file with a trojan on my mac?

I realize it was an infected file and then put it in the trash, and secure emptied it.

Is my mac ok? Is there any possibility that I have a virus or something?

You should have an anti-virus on your Mac. Download Sophos for free and run a scan.
