I live in Germany and I went over to France (but It was still very close to germany) no one spoke English or German. Perhaps they don’t expect you to speak French, but If I were you I would learn the basis first, because many French people can’t speak English. I have learned french for 1 year and well, I can make me understandable but that doesn’t mean that I understand the other person ^_^
Anyways yes, learn the basis. You will also learn by listening to French like watching movies with subtitles and then watch it again without it. Have lots of fun in Paris! It’s the best city ever! (Or at least I think so)

If you don’t speak French, you can’t attend university there. How do you expect to keep up when all your classes and assignments are in a language you don’t understand?
