Am I wrong for not wanting to talk to him anymore?

Saturday July 30,2011 was my sons 1st Birthday party. We had it at my husbands parents house. Around 11:30pm I saw that my older brothers were trying to fight my father-in-laws’s good friend. But I came to find out that the guy tried to rape my 11year old neice inside the jumper. I told my father-in-law what was really happening and why my brothers wanted to fight his friend. Before we all knew my father-in-law took the guy to his house. My sister, the mother of my neice whho was almost raped called the police and the police took my father in law so he can show them where they guy lives, and he didnt he lied to the police and said he dropped him off in a corner of a random street. So no one has a clue where the guy lives!! I know that my father in law knows where his friend lives because he is always over there. I want no relationship anymore with my father in law. Am i right in not wanting him in my life after he defended his child molester friend instead of my neice.?

  • Your father-in-law made the wrong choice, his friend probably lied to him about what happened, saying that your niece lied or misunderstood or blew it out of proportion. Men that molest children, as a rule, don’t do it only once. They generally leave a trail of tears in their wake. I wonder, does your husband have any sisters?

If this man is a long term friend of your father-in-law’s, surely your husband or someone knows his name or where he works, or something about him so he can be found. He needs to be forced to account and pay for his actions.

  • No. you are in the right. Why would he want to defend his friend over a child??!
