Are Shimano PDR540 pedals & Shimano MO88 shoes compatible?

The pedals came with some triangle shaped platform things. ( sorry, but I’m very new to all of this). The shoes came with a little cleat that I attached to the shoe. The platforms fit the pedals, but not my shoes. The shoes only have 2 holes, the platforms have 3. Please help? I’m so confused. Thanks!

  • M088 are mountain bike shoes. I believe you need specific road bike shoes for those pedals.

  • No, they are not compatible. You either go with the 2 or 3 bolt system.

I have to bikes, the older one with the 3 bolt and the new one with the 2 bolt. I prefer the 2 bolt when combined with the recessed sole shoes.

  • The pedals are road pedals ( 3 hole ), the shoes are SPD Mountain bike shoes ( two hole ). They are not compatible.
