Billiard rules please help?

If you break and pocket a solid ball while scratching, does he remain on the solid side or is it still free?

  • Of course, whoever the breaker was will remain solids. Scratch or not. And if you get a solid and stripe in on the break you can pick.

But since it was a scratch you forfeit your next turn to your opponent and they will play it off as a scratch behind the headstring.

  • The table is always open after the break shot regardless of what was pocketed, including the cue ball. In this situation, the opponent would have an open table and take ball in hand behind the headstring. All subsequent fouls would be ball in hand anywhere on the table.

P.S. It’s funny how every time without fail that someone disputes the proper rules, they NEVER have a source.
