I keep seeing on the boob tube people saying that when you loaded one it was powder, patch, ball.I always thought it was powder, patch AND ball ie: the patch covered the ball to make a seal.That’s how I always shot my black powder.

I set the patch over the muzzle, jam a ball into it, and ram them both down the barrel.
Don’t know if that’s “right”, but that’s how I was taught.

No, you have it right. Well, the patch does proceed the ball even tho it is a bit wrapped around the ball.
