  • External graphics adapters do exist, which allow you to connect a regular desktop graphics card to your laptop… but they’re expensive, they only work with external monitors (not your laptop’s built-in screen), and they’re only compatible with laptops which have an Expresscard port, which is rare.

  • hi sam

I hear this question a lot of answers and the answer is yes… theres several external graphic cards however the most popular is the “vi-dock “( http://www.villagetronic.com/vidock/index.html ) which connects to your laptop via its “express cardslot” … so if you don’t have one of these your out of luck

the vidock is avalible in 3 versions and these are :

ViDock 3 is designed to accommodate PCIe cards with no power connector.

ViDock 4 is designed to accommodate PCIe cards with one 6-pin power connector, or less power cards with no power connector.

ViDock 4 Plus is designed to accommodate PCIe cards with two 6-pin power connectors, or less power cards with one 6-pin connector, or with no connectors.

basically it depends on what graphic card you want to use… if its a low end card then the vidock 3 will be fine … however if you want to use a GTX660 or a HD7850 then the vidock 4 plus will be the preferred choice

you also need a external monitor to connect your graphics card to and this is best done via hdmi or dvi… but it depends on the outputs your card supports

the downside with the vidock is the price … along with the graphic card ( unless you already have one ) and a monitor your looking at £2 minimum rising to £4 if you need to vidock 4 plus

I hope this helps ..any questions let me know

    good luck mate !

  • Ya you can add a graphics card to your computer, you cant upgrade your integrated graphics which are from you proccesor. Look it up their called video cards. For example search: Laptop Video cards.

  • You don’t want one. They cost almost as much as your laptop when you got it configured and you end up with a desktop (i.e. you can’t take it anywhere) AND it only works on external monitor.

  • Maybe buy a PC.

  • No.
