Can you please rate these pieces in terms of difficulty and your preference in violin?

First, rate them in terms of difficulty, and second, rate them in terms of your preference.
First one being the most difficult to play on violin, and on the other list, the first one being the piece that you like the most.
If you don’t know / haven’t played the the piece just tell it. You can write your comments about the pieces (e.g. what makes it hard/ easy, what you like about it, your feeling while listening/playing it, etc.).

And another question, who is you favorite classical composer and musician? What is your favorite piece?

Thank you for answering!

  • I play the viola and piano, so I’m quite familiar with most of these pieces…

I’ve played all of them except for the first 4 you listed sometime in my life…

~I actually never heard of the 1st one until I listened to it today…ya…Not “hard” at all, just quite long. All concerto’s are quite long in duration…
~I heard that sonata before…though I never played it. Probably one of the hardest on the list. Beautiful!
~Heard this one too…not quite sure where. My favorite on the list 🙂 I could never play it since it’s way too high for the viola, but I can still love it.
~La Folia is a Suzuki piece? Hm…Not in viola Suzuki, but I quit Suzuki when I was in Book 5 anyways…

My brother played 4 Seasons after 1 year of playing, overplayed in my opinion.
I loathe Fur Elise, whether violin, piano, flute….probably on the list of least favorite pieces.

Humoresque…fun to play. Played it when I just switched from violin to viola.
This is going to be long if I commented on every piece….

Minuet was boring, Air is overplayed…Gavotte is cute, Book 2 or 3 I forget, Canon in D is nice and is quite beautiful, played it half a year ago for fun.

Paganini, love his pieces though many of them are to be played fast and I’m a fan of slow pieces 🙂

My favorite composer…don’t have one. They are all absolutely amazing. Favorite piece…that’s really tough! I really like Debussy’s Arabesque No.1….

Also a fan of Mahler’s Symphony No. 5
    🙂

  • Anything by Mozart is more difficult than anything else. Music by Mozart is extremely difficult to play well. Lots of people can play the notes, very few can play all the other aspects that turn it into a really interesting piece of music worth listening to.

Fur Elise is a piano piece so I am not sure what answer you are looking for in terms of violin.

Many of the other pieces are ensemble pieces.

If these have come out of a violin book as arrangements of the tunes,or main melodies I would suggest that you listen to them played as they were written.
