Awad, a Lebanese-American poet, has won many awards for her poetry. She was recently awarded the 2016 Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award. She has written for the New Republic and Poetry, and won the Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Prize twice. She has also been a finalist for the Ruth Lilly Fellowship.
