BR is an Eaton Cutler-Hammer circuit breaker, not the bvreaker reating.

A is the circuit breaker rating = amps

In Canada and the USA normal circuits are protected by single pole amp circuit breakers or fuses.

If the circuit breaker(s) on either side of the one tripping are close to maximum rating, the heat from them may be causing the basement to trip (Nuisance tripping.)

Before changing any circuit breakeers, check what loads you have connect to that basement circuit.

Add the wattage of all lights hard wired, and devices plugged ininto the receptacles. If the total is over watts, you are overloading the circuit breaker.

Remove some of the devices plugged into that circuit.

    Example:

Electric heaters = watts to watts

Hot plates = watts to wats

    Frigs/freezers = watts to watts

  • The BR type breaker indicates the type of load center it is installed in.If the rest are BR breakers by all means install a BR breaker .But, there could be a fault some where in the basement causing it to trip and if so it will continue to trip with a new breaker. But replacing the breaker is a good place to start,

  • try replacing the a breaker with a new one first. If you live in an older house, it is a good probability that the breaker is bad (if it’s the original breaker)

Its a cheap start, they’re usually about $- at your local home improvement store.
