Computer Help Please?

I was looking to buy a new computer. I have been very interested in this one <http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Dell+-+Studio+XPS+Desk… I consider myself to be computer literate, but not to the point were I could build my own. I’m looking for a relatively fast computer primarily for video games. Not looking for an alienware desktop, just one with a decent graphics card. Could you please give me some input or what you might suggest I do?

  • You say you’re computer literate and you want a computer for gaming and you’ve chosen one with just about the shittest graphics card you can get?

What would i suggest you do? Choose or build a computer with AT LEAST a for a graphics card.

  • If you need a gaming computer without the hassle of building it from scratch, then your primary focus should be on a few key components when shopping. Unfortunately unless you got a friend who works on CPUs or you do not mind putting in a little elbow grease to install two things, you will need to shell out some bucks to the Geek Squad.

    Processor:

Intel i is nice, i is better, and AMD Phenom II X is nice as well

    Graphics Card:

On-board is never an option for true gaming, so there is a slew of ever changing options when it comes to cards. I recommend never buying the most expensive ones because the top tier for cards change like the seasons and the former top tier will be the sales at the current retailers.

    Power Supply:

Unfortunately once you get that nice card, you most likely will have to upgrade your power supply whether you want to or not due to the power cables that must connect to the card. This installation is a little more work than a graphics card installation since you will have to pay attention to what you disconnect from the old stock power supply as well.

Memory (RAM) is important but most CPUs come with a decent amount and can easily/cheaply be upgraded later on if you feel its necessary.

  • Specs are ok but not good enough for a hardcore gamer.

Choose a better Graphics card and it will work fine.

  • Not with that video card it isn’t. You’d need to put a much better one in there, which would probably mean you’d also have to replace the power supply.

  • the model looks decent with GB ram and TB hdd.

I would also recommend you to verify the HDD speed as your main purpose is for gaming.. there will be lot of I/O operations..

and congrats if you getting one.. 😀
